August 20, 2012 |

In Canada, Kevin and Gwen Therres are touring around Canada and the US with their jet-powered 2006 Mustang that runs on canola-based biodiesel in an attempt to raise awareness regarding alternative fuels and the benefits for farmers to grow biofuel feedstock. The jet car, which is powered by a J 85 engine from a F-5 fighter plane and puts out 7,500 horsepower, with 7,000 pounds of thrust, is participating in races across the region with the ability to down a quarter-mile track in 6.3 seconds going more than 250 kilometers per hour, and burning 24 gallons of biodiesel in each run.
