Rapeseed biodiesel fails greenhouse gas savings requirements, study shows

In Germany, a study indicating that rapeseed biodiesel fails to meet the 35% greenhouse gas savings requirements has been published by experts Gernot Pehnelt and Christoph Vietze at Friedrich Schiller University. The study focused on 10 tests of locally produced rapeseed biodiesel, and 8 out of 10 showed greenhouse gas savings of under 30%. The results have prompted concerns over whether the sustainability of rapeseed biodiesel is a worthy investment of time and money for the European Union.
