IRFA calls attacks on RFS “last chance to dismantle the RFS before it actually does something.”

In Iowa, Monte Shaw of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association told The Hill, ” 2013 is the last chance to dismantle the RFS before it actually does something, so that means the 2012 election is very important, so [opponents are] doing a lot of things to set it up. When the waiver’s denied, and it will be, you will see statements to the effect of, ‘Oh, we couldn’t even get this changed during a drought.

Industry analysts have noted that strong ethanol stocks, and an abundance of valid RINs, will make it possible for the oil industry to meet RFS2 requirements even with substantial reductions in corn usage by the US ethanol industry – in response to drought conditions.

Meanwhile,  said Jim Damask, a manager at BiofuelsConnect told BusinessWeek, “There seems to be a lot of ethanol for sale. There’s some inventory that hasn’t been scooped up yet,” in responding to a 2.7 drop in ethanol prices to their lowest point in nearly two weeks.
