Tulare algae project will produce renewable jet fuel

August 28, 2012 |

In California, the City of Tulare has leased four acres next to its wastewater treatment plant for a project between nonprofit association Algae International Group and Huntington Beach-based Pacific Oil Products to produce algae for renewable jet fuel. The pilot phase will produce about half a million gallons of fuel annually with hope of reaching 6 million gallons at full scale. The project uses the wastewater treatment plant’s gases and CO2 for algae production.
