In New Zealand, netcomposites reports that LignoTech achieved a breakthough with its bio-based thermoset resin extender, which is produced at their New Zealand pilot plant. They quote LignoTech’s North American Technical Specialist as saying, “The bio-based extender will offer composite companies a competitive advantage by changing to a green renewable solution that can lower costs.” Also, the resin extender reduces weight due to a lower specific gravity. LignoTech is looking to build a U.S. manufacturing plant.
