Renewed push to increase safety in ethanol rail tankers

In Illinois, concerns about design flaws in the rail tankers that transport ethanol and other substances beginning to stir communities that host railways to push for tighter regulations, including for the 10s of thousands of existing rail cars and not just new tankers, as current rules require. An Associated Press review found that ethanol tankers have been involved in 40 serious accidents since 2000 while during the previous decade there were only two.
