Fight continues among India’s ethanol industry over price

September 18, 2012 |

In India, the chemical industry continues to block moves to raise ethanol prices for the fuel market due to fears about competition for supplies. Ethanol India says that even if prices were raised to INR40 per liter from the current INR31 proposed, oil companies would save a lot by blending ethanol because gasoline is currently going for INR65 per liter. The chemical industry pays INR35 per liter but wants fuel ethanol limited to INR31, which keeps mills from wanting to produce more ethanol.
