Valero restarts ethanol plants in Indiana, Nebraska

In Texas, Valero confirmed to Bloomberg that they have restarted ethanol production operations at Albion, Nebraska, and Linden, Indiana, as margins for the fuel improved. “Ethanol margins improved to the point where it became feasible to operate the plants again,” Bill Day, a company spokesman in San Antonio, told Bllomberg in an e-mail. “We had said when we closed the plants down temporarily in June that we expected them to be back in operation during the harvest. ”December corn futures have dropped from north of $ per bushel to $7.52 for the December contract, while the December ethanol contract is at $2.27 per gallon. Valero is now operating all of its 10 ethanol plants.
