Ugandan Kakira Sugar Limited to significantly increase sugar and electricity production

In Uganda, Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) plans to invest $65 million to increase sugar production and power generation. The company hopes the factory will be able to crush 2 million tons of cane per year. The increase in sugar production will also increase bagasse, which the company will use for electricity production. KSL plans to increase from the current 22MW production to 52MW, of which 32MW will be exported to the national grid.
