October 2, 2012 |

In Canada, 100 residents in the Winnipeg neighborhood of St. Boniface were forced from their homes following a major explosive fire at a Winnipeg racecar fuel maker. Speedway International had approximately 175,000 liters of biodiesel in storage as well as four rail cars full of fuel at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but took firefighters nearly six hours to get under control due to a massive explosion that sent fireballs into the sky. The fire caused approximately $15.25 million (CAD$15 million) in damage.
