Filipino CIIF Oils Mills Group calls for increased biodiesel mandate to 5%

October 2, 2012 |

In the Philippines, a government-owned corporation supporting more than 3 million Filipino coconut farmers, CIIF Oils Mills Group, has again asked the Department of Energy to increase the 2.0 percent minimum mandated biodiesel blend to 5.0 percent. CIIF first asked for the increase in 2009 and ensures that national production will be able to meet the proposed increased target. The global price of crude coconut oil (CNO) is currently depressed and the mandate will give coconut farmers increased market opportunities.
