Chrysler, Ford and GM approve E15 for new cars

October 3, 2012 |

In Detroit, major US car companies, Chrysler, Ford and General Motors have approved the use of E15 in their new vehicles, a 5 percent increase from the current E10 approval. General Motors will begin the approval with its 2012 models and Chrysler and Ford will begin with their 2013 models. This is a major step for the biofuels industry as the increase to E15 will help it meet the 36 billion gallons of biofuel 2022 mandate includes in the Renewable Fuels Standard. The move by the three major carmakers will put pressure on other companies to increase their allowances to E15 as well.
