Improved boiler saves Minnesota ethanol plant over $275,000 per year

In Minnesota, an ethanol plant owned by Heron Lake Bioenergy is reducing its energy consumption thanks to the Interstate Power and Light Company, owned by Alliant Energy. After Alliant Energy installed a new fan system, the company gave Heron Lake BioEnergy a $555,000 rebate check to convert its coal-fired boiler system to natural gas. The improved system will save the plant 4.5 million kWh per, equal to over $275,000 per year.
