Zimbabwe Minister of Energy vying for community support of ethanol plant despite displacements

In Zimbabwe, Honorable Mangoma, the Minister of Energy and Power Development, is trying to convince displaced villagers that the proposed Chisumbanje Ethanol Project will have economic benefits for the country that outweigh initial negative impacts on the community. The minister’s visit to the village followed a fact-finding mission conducted by a government-advisory committee in August. Hon. Mangoma told the villagers that the committee will advise the government on the community’s needs and challenges, and he encouraged them to get join the committee to ensure their views were represented.
