Brazil government considering increase to E25 following higher sugarcane production

October 10, 2012 |

In Brazil, the Ministry of Mines and Energy is calling for ethanol blending to increase from 20 to 25 percent as sugarcane production goes up and ethanol prices go down. Brazil reduced its blending from 25 to 20 percent in October 2011 following a poor sugarcane harvest and was forced to import petroleum to cover the shortfall. If government approves the blending increase, it would come into effect at the start of the next sugarcane harvest.
