Gevo takes the lead in Biofuels Digest’s Hot 50 balloting
In Florida, Biofuels Digest subscribers have put Gevo into the lead in 2012-13 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy subscriber balloting. Last year’s winner, Solazyme, dipped to second. Novozymes continues to show a lot of strength in reader voting and placed #3 in votes so far. Meanwhile, LanzaTech has made it all the way to #4, while POET surged to #5 to edge out Amyris. BP Biofuels, DuPont, Joule, KiOR, LS9 and Butamax make up the remainder of the top 12.
Ballots counted to date do not include invited selector voting, which will make up 45 percent of the total, nor the 10 percent of ballots from Twitter voting.
Voting for the 2012-13 ballot ends on Thursday, October 18th at 5pm ET. The Hot 50 will be announced October 29th, 2012 at the Advanced Biofuels Markets conference in San Francisco.
Digest editor Jim Lane commented, “There are 7 days of voting to go and selector ballots and Twitter votes to count – so, it’s early, early days. Like the US elections, it’s going to come down to turn-out – and Twitter votes will be a key opportunity for companies to tap their fan base.”
