Piedmont BioProducts and Gretna, Virginia apply for grant to develop switchgrass and timber biorefinery

In Virginia, the town of Gretna and Piedmont BioProducts CEO Ken Moss are jointly applying for $1.48 million from the Southside Economic Development fund to develop a commercial biorefinery at the Gretna Industrial Park. The $10m project will use switchgrass and timber to produce oil for commercial and industrial boilers, with future upgrades possibly in green gasoline and biodiesel. Piedmont currently has a demonstration site up and running, but has not disclosed the products or amount of production.
