Sugarcane crush way down in Brazil, ethanol production down 20 percent

In Brazil, UNICA said that though the sugarcane crush is 11% behind where it was this time last year, anhydrous ethanol production is 20% lower at 5.23 billion liters as mills choose to produce sugar over ethanol. Cane production per hectare is down 20% as well at 72.4 metric tons per hectare compared to 89.4 tons last year.
