Public hearing opens over biodiesel power deal in Hawaii

In Hawaii, the Public Utilities Commission public hearing regarding the proposed supply of 16 million gallons of biodiesel annually by Aina Koa Pono to Hawaiian Electric Light Co. in Hawaii and Hawaiian Electric Co. on Oahu has gotten underway this week but already it’s being criticized by Hawai’i County Mayor Billy Kenoi. On the other hand, a recently released survey shows that 85% of island residents support using renewable energy for power production.
