Tanzanian government asked to limit biofuel land allowances to 10,000ha
In Tanzania, the government is being urged by local stakeholders to limit the size of land grants to biofuel investors to 10,000 ha from the current 20,000 ha in an effort to ensure that projects actually reach implementation. The financial crisis has left some local populations without access to land when extensive tracks were granted to investors but the investors were unable to develop their projects.
