UK’s farmers union fully behind Europe’s biofuel mandate

In the UK, the National Farmers Union says that ethanol and biodiesel are crucial to future energy needs. With more than 80% of animal feed imported into the UK, agriculture depends on the success of large-scale cereals users to produce both energy and feed for the agriculture industry. It says that the EU’s role in pushing up sustainability standards for biofuels around the world is vital, and the UK must support it.
