Portland GE boosts experiments in biomass feedstocks

In Oregon, Portland General Electric is expanding its experimentation with bioenergy crops beyond energy cane. Experiments charred and tested 18 different crops at a small-scale facility at Washington State University and crops such as corn stover, wheat straw, poplar chips, special biomass sorghum and a methane digester fiber—made from cow manure left over from the digesting process—have all been identified for further research.
