Biomax and MEEP team up for Saudi Arabia’s first biofuel plant

In Saudi Arabia, Biomax Fuels and the Middle East Environment Protection Co (MEEP) have entered into a 50/50 joint venture to build the first biofuel plant in Saudi Arabia. The $40m plant will use cooking oil as a feedstock and is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2013. The chairman of MEEP has indicated that the company has the infrastructure to produce up to 2.5m tonnes of biodiesel per year. Biomax operates a similar plant in India, which produces 300,000 tonnes per annum.
