Finland’s VTT develops better sugar-based plastic

In Finland, national research center VTT says it has developed a more efficient way to produce polygloycolic acid from sugar that could be 20% to 30% stronger than PLA while withstanding temperatures up to 20 degrees hotter. The new plastic is expected to break down easier than PLA and should improve the quality of bio-based plastics.
