German biodiesel demand slips in October while ethanol soars

In Germany, October biodiesel demand fell to its lowest point since February at 170,627 metric tons, bringing the year-to-date total to 1.914 million tons, down from 1.935 million tons during Jan-Oct. 2011. The phenomenon is as a result of double-counting biodiesel which led to a 2% increase in fossil diesel use. On the flipside, ethanol consumption during October was an all-time high of 146.7 million liters.
