Indonesian government pushing harder for domestic palm oil biodiesel use

In Indonesia, the government is again pushing for the increased use of palm oil as a feedstock for biodiesel in an attempt to solve its over-supply issue of the oil. The deputy trade minister says the current plan is to boost production so as to use 3 million metric tons of palm oil annually. A new subsidy has been put into place to boost biodiesel use that complements a new export tax on the oil.
