UNICA boosts cane production estimate to up to 590 million tons

In Brazil, UNICA has boosted its 2013/14 sugarcane production forecast to between 580 million and 590 million metric tons thanks to rains that have improved the crop. Between 53% and 54% of the crop is expected to be used for ethanol production. About 20% of crops are being re-planted this coming season, so yields will be even higher in 2014/15.
