White Energy mothballed Plainview, TX ethanol plant on Jan. 7
In Texas, White Energy mothballed its ethanol plant in Plainview on Jan. 7 due to the drought and related high corn prices, ahead of the Jan. 17 announcement that a nearby Cargill meat processing plant would also idle due to the drought. The plan is to idle through the first quarter but may do so until the next corn harvest in October. The plant didn’t lay off workers back in 2009 when it idled during bankruptcy restructuring, so hopes it won’t have to now either.
