US ethanol futures follow Europe with discount to gasoline

In Illinois, US ethanol futures are following suit to European spot ethanol prices by falling to a discount to gasoline, which is expected to spur Brazilian imports. There were no ethanol imports during the week of Feb. 1, the first time that happened since Sept. 28. The crush spread on corn ethanol has also slipped to -15 cents per gallon, the highest since July.
