Front Range to produce 7% of ethanol from wood in 2014

In Colorado, Front Range Energy says it has successfully test its wood-to-ethanol technology which is hopes to scale up next year. The company is using Sweetwater Energy’s technology to process biomass into sugars under a 15-year, $100 million deal. The traditionally corn-based ethanol producer says it hopes to produce 7% of its ethanol volume from wood next year, reducing its corn demand by 1.2 million bushels.
