NASA launches ‘flying laboratory’ to test biofuel emissions, engine performance

In California, NASA is launching a DC-8 laboratory to conduct biofuels tests on emissions, engine performance, and contrails on flights as high as 40,000 feet. The project, conducted at the Dryden facility, will use a 50/50 blend of JP8 derived from camelina. The flights began last week and will continue for three weeks into March.
