Bahrain finds possibility for date pit-based biodiesel

In Bahrain, researchers from the University of Bahrain have demonstrated that date pits can be used as a biodiesel feedstock, with up to 8% oil content. The remaining press cake can be used as animal feed while glycerin can be used in cosmetics. Bahrain has approximately 380,000 date palm trees.
