Chinese want Brazilian farmers to invest $20 million in corn ethanol plant

In Brazil, the China National Heavy Machinery Corp. wants local corn farmers in Mato Grosso state to invest $20 million in an ethanol plant the company wants to build there in the town of Nova Mutum. It says the plant, which it hopes to start construction on next year, will help diversify farmers’ incomes. The ethanol facility would process 400 metric tons of corn per day.
