Kapyon Ventures raises $5.8 million for biofuels-related start ups

In California, Algenetix, a company developing biofuels and other products from microbes, has raised $2 million while ZeaKal, a developer of technologies to increase yields from soybeans and rice, has raised $3.8 million. The raises were led by San Diego investment firm Kapyon Ventures who facilitated the investments from San Diego-based, Australian and Missouri-based investors. The technologies behind both companies were sourced from New Zealand and imported into the United States.
