Sen. Thune leads on letter seeking WTO move against EU for dumping duties

May 1, 2013 |

In Washington, Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) sent a letter along with several of his colleagues to Acting U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador, Demetrios Marantis, and Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Rebecca Blank, urging them to evaluate a recent decision by the European Commission (E.C.) to impose a country-wide anti-dumping duty on exports of U.S. ethanol. “Actions taken by the European Commission set a dangerous precedent for trade between the United States and the E.U. and these unwarranted actions may violate numerous provisions of the World Trade Organization’s agreement on anti-dumping,” said Thune.
