In Kansas, the Nexsun Ethanol plant in Ulysses is in the center of a bizarre swindle deal whereby the project’s promoter sold US residency visas to a Chinese family via the EB-5 visa program for large-scale investment by foreign investors. The project’s promoter have since been sued by the Chinese couple to recoup their funds while the promoter itself is at risk of losing his bar license to practice law because of the swindle. In the meantime, the local residents of Ulysses have missed out on the jobs promised by the ethanol plant.
