Ethanol production in Brazil soars as drier weather facilitates harvest

In Brazil, UNICA says that ethanol production during the first half of May is up 146% on the year at 3.25 billion liters. Sugar production is also up 140% on the year at 3.76 million metric tons. Drier weather at the end of April and beginning of May helped the crush to catch up after wet weather stalled the start for some mills.
