Firefighters Learn How to Combat Ethanol Fires in New York State

In New York, the Essex County Volunteer fire departments underwent a certification class to combat liquid fires and chemical spills. Firefighters have noted a dramatic increase in the risk of fire due to growing fuel-based ethanol transportation in the county, which is now up to five days per week. The training was partially paid for by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
