First Lignocellulosic Ethanol Plant in Malaysia under Construction

In Malaysia, the Syarikat Teck Guan Group has established a pilot project to use oil palm biomass to produce lignocellulosic ethanol. Construction on the plant began in May and is expected to begin operating by the end of June 2013. With an easily scalable technology, the pilot plant will have an initial production capacity of 72 liters of ethanol per metric ton of wet palm fruit bunches. This is the first plant of its kind in Malaysia.
