Micromidas to convert cellulosic biomass to PET

In California, Plastic News reports that Micromidas is looking to use cardboard, rice hulls and paper sludge to produce a bio-based PET. Micromidas’s approach is to directly process their non food biomass directly into PET as the process is cellulose based, not sugar based. Micromidas is looking to have their pilot scale built in the next one to two months with a intake capacity in the one to two ton a day range.
