Biofuels Benchmarking comments on state of Minnesota biofuels

In Minnesota, Biofuels Benchmarking, an analytics service based in Willmar, has made several positive observations about the biofuels industry in Minnesota. While two plants in the state remain closed and less than half of Minnesota-affiliated producers reported modest profits. the organization asserts that the state is heading in the right direction. Losses are getting smaller, and some companies like Highwater Ethanol are seeing profits for the first time. According to Benchmarking’s data, more than 60 US ethanol plants earned 9 cents per gallon in Quarter 1 of 2013, compared with a 5-cent loss in 2012.
