Royal DSM Iowa plant to open by early 2014, will license tech

In Iowa, Royal DSM plans to license its cellulosic ethanol technology after the company’s first commercial plant is completed, said CEO Feike Sijbesma. The $250 million Iowa plant, which has a 25 mgy nameplate capacity will begin production by early next year. Although the plant won’t reach full capacity in 2014, the company will consider building another one or two plants. DSM has already been approached about licensing deals for their technology.
