c2renew hoping to see full production of biobased biofiller for plastics by end of 2013

July 9, 2013 |

In North Dakota, Prairie Business reports that c2renew is hoping to go into full production of their biomass filler for biocomposite plastics. The company uses agricultural wastes such as flax stalks, oat hulls, and sugar beet pulp as replacement fillers for minerals, at half the weight.

Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Chad Ulven is quoted, “Right now, we’re doing probably close to a dozen different molding trials with reputable companies.” Ulven also commented, “… so when we go to replace a mineral-filled plastic, we actually lightweight their product by switching.”
