Court ends exemption for ethanol plants from GHG reduction regulations

In Washington, the two out of three judges on a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit have decided that ethanol plants as well as wood and pulp producers should no longer be exempt from reducing GHG emissions. The EPA decided in 2011 that ethanol and wood producers should have a three-year grace period while it determined the actual impact of GHG emissions from those industries. Environmental groups sued however to get that grace period withdrawn.
