Chip Energy breaks ground on pellet plant, to be completed this year

July 22, 2013 |

In Illinois, Chip Energy has broken ground on a biomass recycling and pelletizing plant. The plant will produce up to 100 tons per day of condensed biomass, and is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of this year. “I’m expecting my large clients to be utility companies that want a predictable emission briquette that they can combust with coal,” Paul Wever, Preisdent of Chip Energy, said. “I’m looking at doing the same thing with cellulosic ethanol facilities around the nation, being able to provide them with a value-added predictable product at their door.” Feedstocks for the pellets include wood waste, purpose-grown energy crops, and agricultural residues.
