EcoEnergy accused of landgrabbing in Tanzania

In Tanzania, it appears that EcoEnergy is the latest biofuel developer to be accused of landgrabbing. The company says it plans to develop sugarcane for ethanol on an abandoned government-owned cattle ranch that hasn’t been used since the early 90s, but local residents say 600 families live on the land. EcoEnergy says it followed procedure to attain land rights and the government is backing up the company’s claim, but that isn’t easing the situation with the locals.
