Argent Energy sold to investors for $122.8 million with eye on Asia

In Scotland, biodiesel producer Argent Energy has been bought for $122.8 million by John Swire & Sons (Green Investments) who plans to take the company’s Asian experience and translate Argent’s success overseas. Argent, who employs 70 people to produce biodiesel from waste grease, tallow and waste cooking oil, was debt-free and had a $76.7 million turnover last year.
