NC assembly eliminates Biofuels Center funding, forcing it to shut its doors

In North Carolina, the state’s general assembly voted to eliminate the NC Biofuels Center’s $2 million budget on Tuesday, meaning it will have to shut down in a matter of weeks. The organization, which conducts research on potential biofuels crops and tries to encourage outside investors to set up biofuels production in the state, has 14 employees.
