Russian Federation establishes action plan for biobased economy

In the Russian Federation, Pravda.Ru reports the Russian Ministry for Economic Development produced an action plan for research, cooperation, and production in the global biotechnology market. The article reports that the Russian share of the market is less thann 0.1%.

The ministry has established a 2018 goal of 50 billion rubles for export, 200 billion rubles for production, and 300 billion rubles in consumption. The market and research segments include biotechnology in agri-food, energy, environmental, forestry, genetic engineering, and industry, as well as biomedical and biopharmeceutical.
