Pakistani mills want end to molasses duty rather be subject to ethanol producers

August 1, 2013 |

In Pakistan, molasses manufacturers want the government to drop the 15% export duty on molasses since the government isn’t planning to put in an E10 policy as originally expected. The duty was put in place in 2009 under pressure from ethanol distillers in order to control the molasses market but only used it intermittently. Sugar mills want the ability to export when prices are higher internationally.
